German Diversity Day

The German Diversity Day is a nationwide day of activities that has been taking place annually since 2013 and was initiated by the Charta der Vielfalt e. V.

Companies and organisations take part in this day of activities with an annual motto – #flagfordiversity in recent years – and initiate activities related to the topic of diversity both as an in-house activity for their own employees and as a public activity.

The next German Diversity Day will take place for the seventh time on 28 May 2019.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) supports German Diversity Day in the scope of its “Integration through Qualification (IQ)” funding programme.

What kind of activities take place?

German Diversity Day has become an attention-grabbing major event particularly due to the large number of companies and organisations that take part throughout Germany with activities of their own. How participants deal with diversity is at the heart of the annual day of activities.

The participating organisations can plan their specific activity on the Diversity Day itself or even plan an entire event week or series. The Charta der Vielfalt e. V. supports interested participants with ideas for activities and its expertise on the topic of diversity and diversity management. In addition, it makes available material for media and PR work, such as various give-aways, sample press statements, tips for social media work and various templates, for instance for flags or beach flags.
